The Lady Hawks sweep past LE and North Lamar

Junior Harleigh O’Neal makes a spikes the ball during a home game against Gilmer.

Last Friday, The Lady Hawks volleyball team swept the Lady Leopards to give them their second district win of the season. Junior Sarah Hale and senior Katie Ferguson lead the team in kills with 7 apiece. Junior Harleigh O’Neal led the team in serves with 19 total service points. Senior Macy Young, helped by assisting 12 kills.

 ¨Because they [LE] weren’t as good as we thought they would be, we were able to work on running plays, closing blocks, working around other blocks, and speeding up our offense.” Katie Ferguson said. 

Last Tuesday, the Lady Hawks fought hard to defeat their rivals the Lady Panthers. Beating the Lady Panthers gave the lady hawks their third district win of the season, giving them a record of 3-0 going into the third week of district. Sophomore Adi Kholler had a total of 13 service points and 9 digs and Ella Nichols had 13 digs. Senior Macy Young assisted 15 kills while Sophomore Rose Anderson contributed with 8 kills. 

 ¨It was an intense game and everyone was involved in the game to get the dub.¨ Sarah Hale said. ¨They [North Lamar] are a really hard team, we are always going to have an exciting match against them.¨ 

The Lady Hawks will continue their district play on Friday, as they take on Gilmer, for their Homecoming game at home.
