Cross Country Dominates at District

Sophomore Jazmin Hever nears the end of her race.

The cross country teams finished second and third at the district meet at Lake Bob Sandlin. 

The varsity boys placed second and had three runners in the top ten, all of them ran under a 19 minute 5k. Sophomore Brooks Beck finished third overall and ran a 18:16. Following him was sophomore Elmo Mejia in fifth, and sophomore Dai’mond Harvey in tenth. In the junior varsity race, the boys won. Carson Sanders finished second, followed by Danny Santiago, Chance Tutulo, Peyton Legrand, Cieran Power and Matthew Angier in sixth through tenth.

Sophomore Lydia Colvin led the girls’ team and finished in fourth place. Sophomore Jazmin Hever and Freshman Emma Henard placed 11th and 12th.

Coach Gina Clark said that the Hawks have a great chance at regionals.

“We have a very deep team this year.” She said. “The boys have a lot of good runners that can step up for varsity if we need them to.”

The Hawks run at regionals in Dallas on the 28th.
