There was at least one senior who was seriously ready for the blackout pep rally last Friday. Well, actually, senior Joy Zimmerman usually is.

“Bright colors look good on me but I kind of started leaning towards black when people could recognize me,” Joy said. “I didn’t like being recognized.”

She used to wear cat ears every day, but once those became banned she had to resort to a different outlet of expression.

“I like being different from everybody else, and that’s where bleaching hair, all black came into play. It’s kinda just a style that I really like,” Joy said.

Even though she usually sticks to one certain color (black, in case you didn’t figure it out), she doesn’t stick to one certain group of people. All of her usual friends graduated, so she had to make other relationships in the school.

“I’m like friends with all grades, so I’m in all cliques,” Joy said. “I’m very adaptable to personalities.”
