The varsity football game scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23 against Spring Hill has been cancelled due to members of their football team being quarantined because of COVID-19.
The scheduled game will not be made up, as UIL regulation states that a cancelation due to COVID-19 will count as a forfeit.
“From a standings standpoint, it is a forfeit for Spring Hill,” defensive coordinator Phillp Fuller said. “So, it is considered a win for us in our district standings.”
Despite the outbreak among the Spring Hill varsity athletes, the junior varsity, freshman, and middle school teams will all play as scheduled. Although there will not be a game this Friday, the Hawks plan to use the sudden bye week to prepare for the upcoming final two district games.
“Hopefully, [the bye week] affects [the team] in a positive way because we’ve had some extra time to focus on ourselves and try to work to improve some things we need to get better at,” Coach Fuller said.
