It’s fall, the weather is turning colder and students are pulling out their warm sweaters and socks. However, not everyone is that lucky.

Because not everyone has warm socks, the Keyettes are collecting sock donations for their Socktober Project.

“Socks are something we take for granted,” Keyettes sponsor Shawn Edmonds said. “They are something we can provide for people who can’t afford them.”

This will be the third year Keyettes and Stuco have helped gather socks for those in need. The socks donated will go to Randy Sams Shelter and the Domestic Violence Prevention Center. Last year about 600 pair were collected and Keyette members are hoping more will be donated this year.

Keyette member Brynn Blain saw the need last year when she delivered the sock donations to Randy Sams.

“We could tell how happy and grateful they were for the socks,” she said. “There were homeless people there and we could tell how much they needed them.”

Socks are due by this Friday to Mrs. Edmonds or to Stuco sponsor Tiffani Beck.
