The only thing that causes much excitement in Texarkana is the rumor that a new restaurant is coming or the fact that Chick-fil-a will be reopening soon. But the rumor of Buc-ee’s opening a location in Texarkana has some people excited.

The TXK Today website posted a story on July 12 mentioning that Buc-ee’s was looking at a Texarkana location. Sources told them that the company has an option to purchase property from KOA Texarkana/Northgate Properties on St. Michael Drive just west of State Line Ave. The closest Buc-ee’s to Texarkana is located in Temple, TX, but Royse City, TX is expecting to open one in 2020.

For students who’ve never been, Buc-ee’s is a chain of convenience stores located throughout Texas. The stores are known for their clean bathrooms, delicious food, and famous beaver mascot.

“I’ve never been, but I’ve heard good things about Buc-ee’s,” sophomore Cadence Pov said. “I know it’s a gas station, first of all, and I’ve heard that there’s supposed to be one opening near here.”

All the students who have been can agree on at least one thing: Buc-ee’s has the best bathrooms.

“Buc-ee’s is really clean. A lot of gas stations aren’t clean, but it’s very clean,” sophomore Lauren Stinard said.

There is also a shared love for Buc-ee’s famous Beaver Nuggets. Contrary to what you might think, Beaver Nuggets have nothing to do with rodents. They are actually sweet, buttery corn puffs that got their name from Buc-ee’s beaver mascot.

“I like their weird food, they have a lot of weird food,” freshman Maci Hadaway said. “They have those little Beaver Nuggets that are so good. They’re sweet, they’re a little salty, and they’re really crunchy.”

If a Buc-ee’s were to come to Texarkana, it would change a lot about this small town, and it could possible make it even better.

“I think it’s a positive thing that we’re getting one here because we’re the midway point between two major cities which are Dallas and Little Rock. I think it’s a good travel stop,” sophomore Caley Burnside said.

Even though a Buc-ee’s coming to Texarkana isn’t set in stone, students are pretty excited about it. It’s more than a pit-stop, it’s a destination on its own.
