So it’s your first day at PG. Everything is new and entirely different from what you are used to.

You prepared yourself for a new place and new people, but when you arrived on your first day, there were so many things you had never heard of.

Pleasant Grove students use different words to describe places and people at their school, words that seem foreign to some freshmen and new students. Here’s a list of the PG lingo that should help you make it through the school year!

The PAC: A term used to refer to the Performing Arts Center

The indoor/IND: The artificial turf indoor training facility is referred to as the indoor. When abbreviated on schedules, it will appear as just IND

The gyms: There are three different gyms at PG, so it can be confusing to know what gym to go to. The gym in the main building can be referred to as the pep-rally gym, the old gym, or even the upstairs gym (even though there are no stairs). The gym in the athletic facility is called the competition gym, the new gym, or the downstairs gym. Then the small gym behind the pep-rally gym is the drill team gym.

The Hill: The hill is not just any hill, it is the most dreaded thing in athletics. The hill is located right outside the weight room and behind the football stadium. Students in athletics run up and down this hill countless times for training and often punishment.

Mrs. Mac: Mrs. Mcinnis, also known as Mrs. Mac, is a math teacher in room 403.

Hawk Drive: There are many different parking lots, so it can get confusing, it is especially hard for students when referring to the two parking lots either side of the indoor. Since the road to the lot by the football field and the indoor is called Hawk Drive, that parking lot got the name Hawk Drive. too.

PLC: To most students, PLC just means sleeping in an extra 30 minutes, which isn’t wrong, but not completely right, either. PLC stands for Professional Learning Communications, and is a time when teachers meet on Monday mornings to discuss teaching strategies.
