Halloween. The one time of year where everyone can dress up, go trick or treating, and have parties and hang out in large groups. Or maybe not. 

This Halloween is set to be a quite different one this year, much like other holidays affected by the pandemic. Still though, you and your loved ones can celebrate it safely by staying in and binging the wide selection of Halloween movies and shows available on streaming platforms.

Adam Sandler plays a man who loves Halloween and must find who the murderer is in this horror-comedy movie.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Tim Burton’s perfect mix of Christmas and Halloween is perfect for anyone looking for an animated Halloween movie that’s not too spooky.

With four movies so far, Scream is one of the most clever and popular movies of the slasher genre.

For true crime fans, this series is perfect for anyone looking for a good mystery.

Hannibal (2013-2014)

Full of psychological horror and imagery not for the weak-stomached, Hannibal follows the story of FBI special investigator Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and his psychiatrist, Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelson), with a dark secret.

American Horror Story (2011-)

A horror anthology with each season inspired by a chilling real life event. From a witch coven to a house with a murderous past, every season and episode is bound to have you sleep with one eye open.

What We Do in the Shadows (2019-)

A spin-off series from Taika Watiti and Jemaine Clement’s mockumentary, What We Do in the Shadows (2014) follows the adventures of a group of vampires in modern times. It’s not too scary, but the show’s satire and comedy is unmatched.

The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)

A follow-up series of The Haunting of Hill House, this supernatural horror show stars a young woman and her experience at a haunted house.

Ratched (2020)

Another spin-off of a movie and book (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest of 1975 and 1962 respectively), Ratched features a young nurse (Nurse Ratched played by Sarah Paulson) and her descent to insanity.
