If you were anywhere in the United States last night, you were probably a witness to one of America’s greatest pastimes. People everywhere were all sitting in their living rooms, bars, and restaurants watching one of the most rewarding, eye-catching, and exciting events in American culture: Superbowl commercials. We lined up our three favorite commercials.
1) ‘NFL Next 100′ Commercial
This commercial featured 12-year-old Maxwell ”Bunchie” Young running through various crowds of NFL Hall-of-Famers, celebrities, and athletes. (A select few being Jerry Jones, Saquon Barkley, and Jim Brown.) The 2 minute and 52 second ad awed viewers when at the end of the commercial, Young ran onto the actual NFL Superbowl field, in real time, at the actual start of the game.
2) ‘Loretta’ Google Commercial
This commercial had everyone in tears, giving us a simple storyline of a man who had lost his wife finding ways to remember her using Google. The ad starts with the man searching “how not to forget” and somberly takes viewers through a memory lane of the man’s late wife, Loretta, and the things the man loved about her. (No, I’m not crying. There’s just something in my eye.)
3) Amazon Alexa Commercial
This commercial was centered around Amazon’s Alexa software, featuring Ellen Degeneres, and her wife, Portia de Rossi. The theme of the commercial is “what did people do before Alexa?” and takes viewers through a hilarious 90-second time travel adventure.
